Twelve people in a five-state outbreak of E.coli believed to be linked to contaminated soy nut butter. One of those who became ill was a 13-year-old New Jersey girl. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), since Jan. 6, people have also become ill in four other states: California, Arizona, Maryland and Oregon. All except one are younger than 18.

No deaths have been reported, but half of those infected have been hospitalized. Four developed a type of kidney failure. The outbreak began in January when the New Jersey teen became sick.
